Please take the following steps to make sure that the privacy permissions are correctly set for allowing OKIOCAM Chrome extensions to access the camera and microphone hardware on your system.
For Windows 10 and Mac users, adjust the privacy permissions in your Operating System(OS) first. After adjusting the privacy permissions in the OS, please scroll to the last section describing how to change the Chrome Browser privacy settings.
For ChromeOS/Chromebook users, skip directly to the section pertaining to Chrome Browser settings.
Adjust Privacy Setting on Windows 10
Step 1. OKIOCAM uses Window 10's built-in default webcam driver to control the camera so if your camera is not registering, try updating the Windows 10 supplied webcam driver first.
Step 2. Check to see that OKIOCAM is recognized by opening the Devices and Printer window.
Step 3. Open Windows Settings and select Privacy options.
Step 4. Select Camera settings and make sure Allow apps to access your camera is in the "on" position.
Step 5. Scroll down to the bottom of the window and make sure Allow desktop apps to access your camera is also in the "on" position.
Step 6. Next, select Microphone settings and follow the same procedure as above. The OKIOCAM Chrome extension will not function unless both camera and microphone options are enabled.
Adjust Privacy Setting on Mac OS
Step 1. OKIOCAM uses the Mac OS built-in default webcam driver to operate the camera. Select System Preferences from the Apple menu and click the icon labeled Security & Privacy.
Step 2. Click the Privacy tab at the top, then in the left hand column click on either Camera or Microphone to manage app permissions.
Step 3. In the right pane, tick the boxes of the apps you want to have access to your camera and microphone. Be sure to allow Google Chrome access, as our software are installed as Chrome extensions.
Chrome Browser Settings
Step 1. Select the Settings option in the browser menu.
Step 2. Under the Privacy and security section, select the Site Settings option.
Step 3. Select Camera permissions.
Make sure to select OKIOCAM as the preferred camera in the drop-down menu on top. Right below, make sure the camera permission slider is in the Ask before accessing position.
On the bottom in the Allow section, make sure the OKIOCAM extensions you have installed are shown in this area, if they are missing it is because permissions for camera access have not yet been set. When you start any OKIOCAM extensions for the very first time, a pop-up dialogue box will ask you to allow camera access, please select to Allow access.
Once this is done, the permission granted will be registered and the extensions will show up in the Allow section. You can make changes to the permissions of any OKIOCAM extension by clicking on the expand menu icon as indicated by the red arrow.
If the OKIOCAM extensions are still not showing up in the Allow section even if you granted permissions, please follow this guide to set the privacy permissions manually.
Step 4. The Camera setting should be set at Allow and make a change to the Microphone setting if you want to record sound for your video.
Step 5. In the OKIOCAM Chrome extension, click on the Reset button to reinitialize the app.
Step 6. The camera should now display an image like this:
