Incorrect Image Color
When presenting something that is not white, you may find the color of the image to not match the true color of the items. This is because the white balance of the OKIOCAM is optimized to capture the black and white color of text-based documents under any lighting environment.
To understand more clearly, below is a set of photos taken under the exact same lighting environment. The color temperature is approximately 3000K, which is the standard warmth of a normal household lightbulb. The left picture was taken by a DSLR camera that is set to capture the color of the object that you see, while the right picture was taken by an OKIOCAM T which is optimized for black and white color.

Under these settings, the DSLR camera tends to show white objects as yellow which is due to the lighting environment (white paper turns yellow in the warm lighting). Due to the OKIOCAM optimizing the image for black and white color, the picture taken by the OKIOCAM appears to be colder in order to keep the paper as white as possible. This can result in a discrepancy between the actual color of the object and the image shown.
Calibration
When the white color of the image does not seem to be correct, we recommend that you try this out - put a piece of white paper with black text under the camera, then press the auto-focus button on top of the OKIOCAM. This helps the camera identify the white color under your lighting environment and adjust the image color accordingly.

Adjust Image Color
If you are wanting to present objects in their truest color, you will need to do some additional steps. We have listed 3 different methods below for you to achieve this!
Method 1 - A10 Camera Control App
OKIOLABS has launched a new software along with our inaugural webcam, the OKIOLABS A10. While the software was designed specifically for the OKIOLABS A10, it is 100% compatible with all models of the OKIOCAM.
You can download the A10 Camera Control App on this page.
The A10 Camera Control App does not actually access your camera, therefore it is compatible and will not disrupt the function of any video conferencing software (Zoom, Google Meet, etc.). You are able to use it to adjust the image color while using third-party software.

The settings remain until they are manually changed again. So, if you are not planning to use the same settings, remember to always click “Reset all to default” every time you are done using the OKIOCAM.
Method 2 - Skype Webcam Settings
If you prefer to not install any software and already have Skype on your computer, this one is for you! What can be done with the A10 Camera Control App can also be done with Skype. Just follow the steps below to open the camera control panel.
Settings > Audio & Video > Webcam Settings
The Skype camera control panel does not access the camera, so you can keep the panel open and launch your preferred video conferencing software.
Skype Camera Settings with Snapshot and Recorder
The settings remain until they are manually changed again (even after you close the panel and quit Skype.) So, if you are not planning to use the same settings, remember to always click ‘Default’ every time you are done using your OKIOCAM.
Method 3 - OBS
OBS is a free software that allows you to live stream, record videos, take screenshots, and share your screen. Unlike the A10 Camera Control App and Skype Camera Settings, OBS allows users to create and save custom filters for color correction, rather than directly changing the parameters of the camera.

Extremely Abnormal Image Color
If you find the image color of the OKIOCAM extremely abnormal like the picture below, here are some troubleshooting options for you.
Auto-Focus Button
All models of OKIOCAM have an auto-focus button on them. Simply press the gray button, and the camera will auto-adjust the focus, brightness, and color. If you are using the OKIOCAM Snapshot and Recorder, you can also click on the “Focus/Auto Adjust” to do the same thing.
Reset Camera Control to Default
If the image is displaying abnormal colors and you have previously used a camera control panel on any software, please open the software and look for the option to ‘reset all settings to default.’ Once this has been done, press the auto-focus button and see if the image returns to normal color.
Firmware Update Tool
If you cannot find the reason for your issue, or your OKIOCAM is brand new and has not been used before, then you can try the Firmware Update Tool.
Please download the Firmware Update Tool corresponding to your device on this page and see the instructions here.
This tool not only ensures that your OKIOCAM firmware is up to date but also resets all the camera settings to default. So even if you have already updated the firmware before, you can still launch the tool just to reset the camera.
